Video: ODESZA – “All We Need feat. Shy Girls
ODESZA’s second single, “All We Need (feat. Shy Girls)” is an irresistible slice of 21st Century, blue-eyed soul. Produced by a duo whose feel for an infectious melody is matched by their firm footing in the world of bleeding-edge electronics, it’s the perfect follow up to 2014’s hit “Say My Name (feat. Zyra)”.
Now, they’re proud to share the dark, artful video for “All We Need (feat. Shy Girls)” from director Kevan Funk. Harrison Mills of ODESZA commented, “Kevan Funk and crew did a fantastic job producing a beautiful short for our track “All We Need”. We chose Kevan for his use of light, color and cinematic directing style. His use of dark imagery to convey the beauty as well as the tragedy of love and addiction in “All We Need” was a perfect contrast to the bright elements of the track while also playing upon the subtle melancholy undertones of the lyrics.”
Accompanying the video is a series of excellent remixes from Giraffage, Dawn Golden, Robert DeLong, Will Saul, Autograf and more. Autograf’s remix of “All We Need” went to #1 on the Hype Machine popular chart already, making that ODESZA’s 21st #1.
Throwing Snow – Avarice VIP
UK producer Ross Tones a.k.a. Throwing Snow has shared the VIP rework of “Avarice”, the title track of his forthcoming 12″ on Houndstooth. The single will include two versions of “Avarice, which first appeared on his debut “Mosaic” LP back in June, along with “As You Fall VIP,” which features London-based artist Py and a closing remix of “Hypnotise” from Aus label head Will Saul with Komon and vocalist Kid A.
“Avarice” will drop on December 1st 2014.
Huxley feat. FEMME – Give 2 U EP
The second single from Huxley’s debut LP ‘Blurred’ drops on Nov 10th on Aus in the form of ‘Give 2 U’ featuring FEMME on vocals and Will Saul and Komon on remix duties.
In much the same way as Huxley’s impressive rise over the past few years, FEMME has become a serious name to watch recently. As vocalist in Radiohead-collaborator Nigel Godrich’s band, Ultraísta, FEMME has won many a plaudit but recently it’s her solo single ‘High’ and her collaborative work with Crewdson as Eckoclick on the brilliant Sonic Router that have been turning heads.
For ‘Give 2 U’, Huxley ditches the 4:4 and delves into his rave past with a powerful breakbeat groove that underpins FEMME’s stirring vocals alongside gentle, bending melodies. Returning to house, Huxley counterparts guttural, dark garage bass with the original’s blissed out keys and vocals for his ‘Club Rub’.
Aus Music boss Will Saul teams up with Komon for the second remix of ‘Give 2 U’ and delivers a slowly unfurling and heady percussive cut that blurs the lines between house and West-Country breakbeat sounds while allowing the vocals to shine.
‘Soopafly’ closes out the package and sees Huxley exploring the swagger of UK Garage more than ever before.
Huxley feat. FEMME ‘ Give 2 U’ is released Nov 10th on Aus Music/!K7.
