Toothless is the brand new project from Bombay Bicycle Club musician, Ed Nash.
Releasing his debut offering, Terra a couple of weeks ago, Toothless has shared the first remix courtesy of production duo Wayward. Listen to the London-based pair add another dimension to the intriguing, dreamy landscapes of Terra here:
Debut single, Terra is released on 13 May through Transgressive/ParadYse Records (Marika Hackman/Spring King/Blaenavon) on ltd. edition 7” vinyl/digitally. Terra, was self-produced and then mixed by Beach House/TV on The Radio’s acclaimed producer, Chris Coady (additional production by Jack Steadman).
Toothless will play London’s MOTH Club on 17 May and The Great Escape on 19 May.
The Wayward boys have remixed Fine Print’s track ‘About You’ taken from their recently released debut EP, which was released last week on the B3SCI label. The original was a fairly blissed out and soulful track and Wayward have given it a more R&B balearic slickness to it, starting it off steady before stepping up the pace as the track progresses. Check it out below.
The Wayward boys have just announced a new EP called ‘Embroider’ along with new track ‘I Can’t Dance’.
The duo have been playing shows across the US and Europe this first half of 2015 between the recording of the EP, while we still have more details of the new release to be announced, new track I Can’t Dance delivers their soulful-balearic production but now with probably their most dancefloor-ready track to date… ironic given the title of the track but an uplifting summer song to introduce the forthcoming EP. Out soon on Tropics Records.
The guys have spent the last few months recording, experimenting with some new approaches including live horn sections, working with a standout breakbeat in opening track “Baile” and establishing themselves further that they sit at the intellectual end of producing arresting dance music.
We’ve already posted “Belize”, a new track from London-based Wayward‘s forthcoming ‘Ugetsu’ EP on Black Butter. The duo have teamed up with creative house The Madbury Club for their debut video which couldn’t be more reflective of the summer abandon the track evokes. Check it out below. Ugestu EP is released on October 13th 2014.
Here’s the new Wayward single ‘Speak On It’, which will be released on the Black Butter label on September 29th 2014. The single’s b-side Belize had a great response. The guys are very much honing in on a soulful Balearic sound and now working with a more prominent approach to vocals on the tracks as opposed to the Motown samples used on the debut single. Speak On It works a quicker urgency as to the slower builds of previous Wayward tracks, the bassline and vocal very much leading the charge but still maintaining their soulful structures, injecting subtle piano flourishes and providing a warmer glow to the track.

London-based Wayward have shared a new track, Belize, taken from their forthcoming single on Black Butter. This is their second release following their debut with Aesop last year and the track Love Jones.
The new track “Belize” acts as the b-side of the new single. The balearic and soulful rhythms aligns perfectly alongside a quite prominent familiar vocal line, one which they’ve built upon as to give the track’s narrative a further depth and intimacy. A-side “Speak On It” will be unveiled in the next few weeks, so watch this space.
