Just when you got used to new albums arriving on a Friday, Greek indie pop singer, songwriter Σtella has bucked the trend, gone rogue and decided to release her stunning 2nd album ‘Works For You’ today (Monday). Which is great because it’s an amazing record and the sooner people can listen to it the sooner they can get some temporary relief from this crazy world.
Written and arranged by Σtella (with the exception of two tracks -“Nest” and “Walk Like I Taught You” – co-written with Velissarios Prassas), the album was recorded in Athens in 2016 and produced by artist and producer Nteibint and Σtella.
“Works For You” tells stories – its eleven pop songs talk about love and friendship, and celebrate introspection. With this album, Σtella has taken her music two steps forward, further refining her sound and continuing with her ambitious blends of pop and singer-songwriter influences to create her tightest and most mature work yet.
To mark release day Σtella has also uploaded a live video of her performing ‘I’ll Never Be’ live at Sonic Playground in Athens. You can also now stream the album in full on Spotify and Bandcamp (where you can also pick up the coloured vinyl) and purchase from iTunes and the like.

S.W.I.M. (Someone Who Isn’t Me) debut 7inch is out February 1st via Inner Ear. A new music project by three women in Athens: Marilena Orfanou (synths, composer – Berlin Brides, DJ Loo) Maria Hatzakou (drums – film producer at Haos Film) Gina Dimakopoulou (guitar – Katrin the Thrill). They love analogue sounds and toy synths, chaotic guitars, fake strings, female vocals and off-beat rhythms.
S.W.I.M.’s first appearance was a live ciné concert at the 16th Festival du Film Francophone de Grèce in 2015, where they performed their original soundtrack for the silent 1929 film Astero.
S.W.I.M.’s first single “Never Find It” featuring Natasha Giannaraki was written specially for the closing credits of Athina Rachel Tsangari’s 2015 feature film “Chevalier”, which won Best Film at the BFI London Film Festival.
Their first official release on Inner Ear is a 7″ vinyl single including the tracks Stop & Remember (A Side) and “Leap Of Faith” (B Side), featuring Coti K. and Σtella.
S.W.I.M. and Σtella will represent Greece in SXSW 2017.
“”Stop and Remember” was originally written for a movie about six men playing power, funny games, stuck in a boat in the middle of the sea. It all started with an obsessive ride cymbal rhythm that reminded us of the waves. It’s a pop song within a “soundtrack” filled with strings and toy synths, that will definitely make you look up! We are happy to have the track included in Inner Ear’s 7inch project “A Distant Victory Singles Club”.”
“Stop & Remember” – Music by Marilena Orfanou & Σtella, Lyrics & Vocals by Σtella Produced by Someone Who Isn’t Me & Σtella Mixed & Additional Production by NTEIBINT.
Greek singer/songwriter Stella Chronopoulou, better known by her stage name Σtella, has just shared another new track “Way To Go”. Taken from her forthcoming second album ‘Works For You’ (released on February 13 on Inner Ear Records), it reveals yet another side to this multi-faceted artist. The album is available for pre-order now with ‘Way To Go’, ‘I’ll Never Be’ and the album’s title track ‘Works For You’ all available to download immediately (all 3 are also streaming on Soundcloud now).
Following on from ‘The Owner’ released last year, NTEIBINT and Stella join forces once again to bring their elegant sound to Eskimo Recordings with ‘Hide In’. Industry veteran Ewan Pearson is in to remix inducing an acid flare and Mexican duo Zombies In Miami also provide a stellar remix.
NTEIBINT reveals that “originally ‘Hide In’ was a slow and melancholic ballad, with pompous synths supporting Stella’s beautiful vocals. I revisited the original recordings and started deconstructing and rebuilding the song using a live bass as the foundation of the track. ‘Hide In’ is essentially a love song you can dance to!”
NTEIBINT is the musical alter ego of Greek producer George Bakalakos. The gifted producer is known for lush, sonic soundscapes that are masterfully constructed taking the listener to new dimensions. George Bakalakos is also the host of a daily radio show on the Athenian radio station En Lefko 87.7.
Stella (née Stella Chronopoulou) is a pop singer-songwriter and musician also based in Greece. Her debut album was released in February 2015 on Inner Ear. Acclaimed by listeners and critics alike, it became one of the most successful Greek indie albums of 2015.
Ewan Pearson is a man whose talents cover all corners of the industry, from being a DJ and engineer to a published academic and magazine columnist. Over the years he’s worked with huge names including The Rapture, Tracey Thorn, M83, Delphic and currently with Jagwar Ma. Also featuring with an original track on ‘The Yellow Collection’, Zombies In Miami have been building a wealth of support with releases on labels such as Correspondant, Cómeme, Love on The Rocks and Kompakt. Their original live show infuses techno with rock influences for a wholly unique experience.

NTEIBINT is the alter ego of the talented Greek producer George Bakalakos. Following EP’s on Bang Gang and Kitsuné and remixes for Jamie Lidell and Alex Gopher, Eskimo Recordings is proud to present his Never Without You EP.
Part charming pop, part organic disco, the original version of ‘Never Without You’ is one of many stunning tracks on our latest compilation The Blue Collection. This ode to love and longing now gets a full single release, including three fresh remixes and the brand new original ‘Baby’.
First remix comes from Bluford Duck, who’s featured on quality deep house labels like Jeudi, Suara and Sleazy Deep. His surprising take on the original creates a mood that’s perfect for any dance-floor.
Domestic Technology is a sunkissed musical project, heavily influenced by the sounds of the 80s and disco in general. Excellent rework by this Russian producer.
Gespleu is the alter-ego production guise of Anton Lanski who started producing at the turn of the millennium. Lanski’s affair with sound "through heart, hands and computer tools" have led to a raft of successful releases and remixes, and this is no exception.
