Video: Sad Disco – Only Like It

In an electric atmosphere brought about by the events in Athens, during the Greek Riot’s hot summer and while the air outside smelled of tear gas, Dimitris Biniaris (vocals, keyboards, guitar) and Theod Kopoul (drums), synth pop duo Sad Disco, secluded in an appartment in Syntagma square, wrote music for their debut LP.

Trying to escape the present, they drew inspiration from stories from their childhood and adolescence, remembered old loves, relived their first crushes but also faced personal demons, fears, passions and their already tense relationship. All these led to nine emotionally charged songs that combine dance music with dark, self-conscious lyrics. Echoes from the 80’s, innocent melodies, romantic thoughts, angry arpeggios, bass grooves and beats that make you want to dance, while simultaneously fill you with the melancholy of human existence. They describe their music as “introvert lyrics with extrovert melodies, like the sound echoing in your head while you are walking away from a club”.

“Only Like It” is the third video from their debut self titled LP (via Undo Records; get it here). A song about guilt, need for loving, being addicted to someone, wanting to scream out your feelings, go out, dance and break things.
