Madou – Odo Island

Belgian duo Madou are back with ‘Odo Island’, their first single for East London’s NeedWant label (sometime home to the likes of Kiwi, Ejeca, Maxxi Soundsystem and many more). Fusing together shuffling, syncopated rhythms, cavernous bass and trance like synths that all build up to a euphoric climax, ‘Odo Island’ once more lives up to Madou’s maxim of “no genres, no expectations, no strings attached”.

Making their debut in 2017 on Skrillex’s NEST imprint in 2017 with the infectious ‘Nowhere Else’ (one million streams on Spotify alone), Madou quickly found themselves tipped by the likes of Clash, Thump and Dancing Astronaut and supported by DJs ranging from Gilles Peterson and The Magician to DJ Target and Anna Lunoe.

Setting up their own label, Madou would go on to release the eclectic ‘Changing EP’ and single ‘About Tomorrow’ that saw them earn comparisons to the producers like Four Tet, Pional and Jamie xx. With several more releases already lined up for 2019, ‘Odo Island’ is just the start of what is set to be a busy 12 months for the Belgian and sure to cement their position as one of electronic music’s most exciting new acts.
