Hype Machine’s One To Watch for 2014 Du Tonc continue their rise to success with their fifth single, ‘Every Song’ on Eskimo Recordings.
Du Tonc is the hotly tipped act consisting of Matt Van Schie of Van She fame and London producer Mighty Mouse. They exploded onto the scene with their debut single ‘Darkness’ in 2013 and after recording a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘I’m On Fire’ they spent the rest of 2014 writing, recording and putting together the live show.
With early support from The Magician, Mark Ronson and Tensnake, their few releases have clocked up over a million plays and each bowled into the Hype Machine top 10. ‘Every Song’ promises another future classic using their consistent formula of potent vocals, delicate licks of synths and effortless guitar melodies, all abundant with the flair of the 80s.
“This was a labour of love, we kept coming back to it, leaving it, coming back to it for a year. But despite this we never got tired of listening to it, that’s when we realised it was something special to us and had a timeless feeling to it. It’s full of emotion and power.” Du Tonc on Every Song.
Out now on Eskimo Recordings. Get it here.
The profilic Satin Jackets outfit return to Eskimo Recordings with the amorous new anthem ‘Shine On You’, featuring the majestic vocals of London-based singer Esser and remixes by Mighty Mouse and Ben Macklin.
Mighty Mouse takes the indelible vocals of ‘Shine On You’ into high octane territory. From an epic reinterpretation to a mellow utopian adaptation, Ben Macklin’s version is a sparkling cloud of astral energy. Ben’s notoriety has gained his music extensive support on the Billboard chart, MTV, BBC Radio 1 and many more.
Satin Jackets is the brainchild of German music producer Tim Bernhardt alongside lead performer Den Ishu. Collaborations with highly demanded vocalists as well as top-ranking remix work have opened their fluid pop appeal and accessible four-to-the-floor groove up to the world at large. Satin Jackets continue to tour continents with their stunning new live show favouring momentum between 105 and 115 beats per minute.

After spending the best part of 2014 writing and rehearsing, Du Tonc (aka Matt Van Schie of Van She fame & Mighty Mouse) return with the 4th installement of their mixtape series and announce a new single for January 2015.
This heady disco tinged partnership came about during a chance encounter in the basement of the smoky Parisian Social Club where both were playing back in 2010 and as they say, the rest as they say is history.
They burst onto the scene with the now classic Darkness which has since gone on to amass over 800,000 plays on soundcloud. They followed with the infectious Surging Memories, Rise and Island and then a cover of Bruce Springstein’s I’m On Fire. Setting the blogosphere alight all songs have featured in the top 10 of the Hype Machine and they’ve gained admirers in The Magician, Mark Ronson, Flight Facilities, Digitalism, Horsemeat Disco, Tensnake, Nick Warren and many more.
Their debut DJ tour saw them play to sell out crowds in New York, Los Angeles, Mexico City, London and Paris. Live tour dates will be announced for 2015 shortly.

Released on December 22nd 2014 via Love Harder, Mighty Mouse twists the original in melodic slice of techno-disco, creating a thumping remix gaining early support from Tensnake, Alex Metric and Horse Meat Disco.
A producer, DJ, composer and one half Du Tonc, Mighty Mouse built his reputation making disco edits and remixing the likes of Gorillaz and Gill Scott Heron, before releasing his critically acclaimed ‘Disco Circus’ compilation across four instalments (Mixmag named the first two in their Top 10 Comps of the Year). Expanding his love of disco he incorporated house and techno into his original productions that regularly top the Hype Machine – including ‘In Front Of Our Friends’ with Monarchy and ’See Through You’ with Ronika. 2014 saw Mighty Mouse tour Australia, USA, Europe and he started up Nightfilm: a record label and club night based at Edinburgh’s infamous Cabaret Voltaire, with guests including Lindstrom, Horsemeat Disco, Alex Metric, Yuksek, Mylo and Grum.
This is the start of a string of new material from Mighty Mouse leading into 2015, whilst January will see the anticipated return of his band Du Tonc.
Mighty Mouse and Ronika have premiered a brand new collaboration, ‘See Through You’, which will be released on December 1st 2014 via Nightfilm. Uniting two fixtures of the Nu-Disco circuit, ‘See Through You’ is a glorious mix of strutting bass, squelching synths and arch strings, juxtaposed infectiously against Ronika’s address to someone who can “see right through” (thanks to 20/20 vision).

Having met Ronika in such DJ and production circles, ‘See Through You’ is the latest release to be lifted from Nightfilm.
Ronika, meanwhile, is a singer, producer, DJ and video maker originally from Nottingham, before relocating to Barcelona and London. Whilst working as a sound engineer and DJ’ing in various venues around Notts, she began making music inspired by the likes of Egyptian Lover and Afrika Bambaataa. Assimilating a crate-digging love of disco, hip-hop, house and R&B into her effortless grasp of modern pop, Ronika’s debut album, ‘Selectadisc’, was named after Nottingham’s iconic, now-closed independent record store of the same name. It was released this summer to extensive praise (“a triumph”,Mojo ****; “it’s not clear whether Ronika knows how good she is” Fact, ****): a brand new single, ‘Marathon’, is also released in December, when Ronika will also open for The Human League across an extensive UK tour.

Du Tonc, aka Mighty Mouse and Matt Van Schie, have often been referred to as a surprise package of 2013, bursting onto the scene with their debut single “Darkness“. They followed this up with “Surging Memories“, “Rise” and “Island” and this year released a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s I’m On Fire. 2013 also saw them perform at sell out shows across North America, Mexico, London and Paris.
We thought The Magician summed up ‘Surging Memories’ when he said, “Love it! Reminds me of very good Royksopp times! Honestly I had goose bumps at first listening! Melodies are really deep, beautiful and melancholic…”
So, here’s the first remix of Surging Memories from London based producer Kiwi. Kiwi is getting some serious attention right now having just signed to Duke Dumont’s Blase Boys record label. His single ‘Llama’ (originally released on Deep Shit, a label run by Edwin Congreave of FOALS and Jack Savidge from Friendly Fires) is set for a re-release on Defected Records this summer. Check it out below. Out on June 23rd 2014 via Nightfilm Music.
Du Tonc have been holed up in the studio working on new material with a new EP to be announced shortly.
