Leon Of Athens has released his new song ‘Aeroplane’, the first single proper to be taken from his forthcoming album produced by David Kosten (Bat For Lashes, Everything Everything) due out later this year.
Alongside the new single, the highly acclaimed Greek indie-pop experimentalist has announced a seven-date UK headline tour. It kicks off at The Lexington, London on March 17th and finishes on April 1st at Newcastle’s Jumpin’ Jacks, calling at major cities in-between.
‘Aeroplane’ leads with solemn guitars and a sole kick drum, unveiling images reminiscent of an indie road movie. While the verses create conflicting emotions around love in the digital age, the song breaks into an uplifting, chiming chorus, becoming a hopeful ode to modern day love and its unpredictable highs and lows.
The new single follows the recent reveal of ‘Xenos’, also taken from the new album. ‘Xenos’ is a powerful politically themed song, with dark creeping electronics and stark guitars.
Leon has been inspired by life within a country that has been facing many challenges during recent years. His music has become a huge draw in his home country where he has played to audiences of thousands, and has become highly championed overseas gaining praise from the likes of The Guardian, NME, Q, New York Times and more.
Leon Of Athens’ captivating and beautiful new music will become an even more moving force live this month. Full UK tour dates are below:
