JULIO BASHMORE has today released the video for LET ME BE YOUR WEAKNESS. Featuring vocals from BIXBY, the track is taken from BASHMORE’S acclaimed debut album KNOCKIN’ BOOTS, which was released last year through his own BROADWALK RECORDS.
The LET ME BE YOUR WEAKNESS video is directed by DANIEL BRERETON who says:
“The idea for the video came about from the songs title “Let Me Be Your Weakness”, I thought it would be interesting to make a video about peoples weaknesses. The strange things people do to escape from the dullness of day to day life. So I pitched it to Bashmore that we would find hobbyists and obsessives that partake in weird and wonderful past times. Matt was into it, so we then went about searching for a wide range of activities, from crab museums to the largest collection of milk bottles in the UK. Honestly, the search was very difficult for the producers, most of the time the weirder stuff that people were into they didn’t really want to shout about, as they often thought they could be exploited or ridiculed. But my idea was always to celebrate the eccentricities of people. I think we ended up with a really good bunch, including a viking, a furry, poodles, Irish dancers and cosplayers.”
Meanwhile JULIO BASHMORE has launched a brand new website. Designed by PLINTH and featuring illustrations from TURBO ISLAND, check it out now at HTTP://JULIOBASHMORE.COM

Meanwhile JULIO BASHMORE will release his debut album, KNOCKIN’ BOOTS on 7th August. Released on his own BROADWALK RECORDS, KNOCKIN BOOTS is the culmination of five years of intensive experimentation and honing of the BASHMORE sound: an ultra-vivid, totally authentic, raw and rowdy house music record that keeps the dirt and the soul of the music intact. With his debut album Universes due on 24th July 2015 via Ninja Tune, soul controller Seven Davis Jr rolls through with an undeniable good time anthem. ‘Good Vibes’ featuring his friend Julio Bashmore tears through your speakers in a whirlwind of kicks and licks that recalls Daft Punk at their boisterous best – proof that sometimes all you need is a chopped-up disco loop and a hook.
From time to time a DJ, vocalist or producer comes along who transcends a particular scene, bridges the gap between disparate movements and unites tribal music fans. Seven has that talismanic quality. His productions have a rawness… a loose-knit, lolloping groove that seduces even the most steadfastly stubborn of hips.
On 24th July 2015, Seven Davis Jr will release his debut album Universes via Ninja Tune – his most honest and heartfelt musical statement to date. Recorded in LA, San Francisco, Amsterdam and London, it’s a unique exploration of the producer and trained gospel vocalist’s musical landscape, traversing tempos and flipping styles with typical panache but always embedded in the bedrock of soul and funk. Deeply personal, the record brings a positive message rooted in freedom, integrity and self-improvement: “Finding your place. Knowing yourself. Being where you belong.”

Over a pair of 12” releases on his own Broadwalk Records, Julio Bashmore rounded off 2014 in prolific style with a succession of brilliant tracks (Simple Love, Rhythm of Auld, Knockin’ Boots, Petals) that provided an early taste of the sound of his forthcoming debut album. He now kicks of 2015 in similar style with another cut from the album. Featuring vocals from London based producer, multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and funk colossus Bixby, ‘Kong’ is another fine example of the kind of emotive, powerful, timeless house music that Bashmore has become renowned for.
Meanwhile, Julio Bashmore’s Broadwalk Records continues to go from strength to strength. The label’s most recent release was Shanti Celeste’s acclaimed Universal Glow EP, which followed the success of releases by the likes of Velour, Maddslinky, Kowton, Funkieven and of course Bashmore himself.
Here’s a new remix by Velour (aka Julio Bashmore + Hyetal) of the new single by London funk and r&b pop duo EKKAH called ‘Last Chance To Dance’. The remix charges the originals easy-going party atmosphere with driving analogue bass, elements of big beat and strokes of creamy synths backdropping EKKAH’s vocal snippets.
EKKAH’s debut EP ‘Last Chance To Dance’ is released is out this week via Year One Recordings.
Julio Bashmore just premiered his first new music of 2014 with the brand new track “Simple Love” featuring J’Danna. “Simple Love” is the first taste of music from Bashmore’s forthcoming debut album, which will be released in February 2015 on his own Broadwalk Records label.
The single will be released digitally on September 29th 2014, and on 12” vinyl on October 13th 2014. It’s the first of a series of 12’s Bashmore will release in the run up to the album.
