Here’s Almeeva new video for the single “Some Revelation”, from his latest ‘Unset‘ EP on InFiné Music. It’s an hommage to liberation through dancing. Directed by Gregory Hoepffner.
I want to be free.
I don’t know how to dance, and it’s ok.
The world is violent and absurd, but life is full of joy.
I’m looking for unity, harmony and letting go.
My honesty will allow me to connect with the others.
I have faith in mankind.
I want to be free.
Almeeva aka Gregory Hoepffner is a multi-instrumentalist and video maker. He is a member of several rock and hardcore band like Kid North, Radius System, Painting By Numbers, Dawnshape or Time to Burn. He signed a first remix for ‘Machins Choses’ by Bachar Mar Khalifé before collaborating with Bernard Szajner on his live ‘Evolution’. His first two EPs released on InFiné, Anamorphic and Oblite, oscillate between indietronica and emotional clubbing, and were supported by varied medias such as Les Inrockuptibles or XLR8R. His previous EP included a cover of The Smiths. This 3rd maxi highlight is an emblematic track of the early 90’s Eurodance scene.
CARL CRAIG presents… VERSUS. FEATURING FRANCESCO TRISTANO LES SIECLES ORCHESTRA CONDUCTED BY FRANÇOIS-XAVIER ROTH
Versus is a work in progress, a perfect encapsulation of InFiné’s philosophy, which serves a double duty as a platform to foster hybridization between genres, and also as the label’s ten-year anniversary gift to itself. From an initial recording in 2010, the project evolved into a full studio album containing two original compositions by Francesco Tristano and symphonic versions of Craig classics, reworked in the studio by the man himself. The much awaited new album from the Detroit techno producer will finally be available worldwide on May 5th.

Carl Craig – Versus . new album on InFiné / Planet E
November 13th, 2006: The first InFiné release. A visionary piece on which a young Luxemburgish musician, Francesco Tristano, interpreted a piano rendition of a mythic anthem of the Detroit scene, originally produced by Derrick May.
Nearly 40 albums and hundreds of singles later – all genres and formats mixed – the label can be proud about their first decade where the fundamentals of the music market have renewed several times, without abandoning their original values. At each memorable milestone, the label could count on ‘its family’, the confidence of its team, artists, graphic designers, video makers, technical providers of course, but also its worker bees, who became essential to the survival and the regeneration of our small business : the interns. Our present was built thanks to them. Our future will be built with you.
This selection is a mirror of our daily activity as a label. For its curators, this compilation is evocative of a discovery on record and on stage, sometimes of first contacts with artists, often of passionate speeches with our A&R director, and of repetitive listening sessions in our office in the 18th district in Paris.
For you, it’s now the occasion to explore our catalog in all its eclecticism and transversality, to (re)discover our club classics, our pop hits or our piano celebrations.
InFiné10 is at our image, both complex and instinctive. It preaches for an open-mind on music worldwide as much as it strives to accompany your most personal emotions.
Including tracks by Apparat, Agoria, Oxia, Murcof, Francesco Tristano, Danton Eeprom, Rone, Clara Moto, Cubenx, Arandel…
Almeeva aka Gregory Hoepffner is a multi-instrumentalist and video maker who is part of the new generation of artists signed on InFiné, alongside Gordon and The Wanderer. Talented remixer for Bachar Mar-Khalifé’s “Machins Choses”, inspired podcaster for InFiné’s website, he was one of the craftsmen of the new show “Evolution” created by Bernard Szajner in 2014, whose track “The Dead Will…” released on the EP “Rethinking Szajner” constitutes the final studio achievement. Around the same time, he released his first EP “Anamorphic” on InFiné. his second EP for InFiné, Oblite, is out now.
Infine Music is proud to be releasing a stunning second album from Cubenx entitled ‘Elegiac’. The LP will be available on vinyl, CD and digital. There’s also three bonus tracks on the vinyl edition that aren’t included on the CD and digital versions.
Cubenx is Cesar Urbina, a Mexican producer and family member at Infine who is constantly on the move between Mexico, Paris and Berlin. His minimal electronic style is moody and sombre, full of emotional turmoil and already in favour with everyone from Agoria to Michael Meyer. It has graced labels like Static Discos and Cyan Records, whilst his 2011 debut album on InFine, ‘On Your Own Again’, was a fine full length statement that took cues from shoegaze and post punk and looked well beyond the dance floor. This new artistic work, though, is about saying goodbye to the past with a real sense of satisfaction, at the same time as inventing a different present.
The most adventurous composition on this cohesive and coherent record, ‘A Sheltering Sky,’ best embodies the topic of nomadism that is so relevant to Cubenx and it borrows its title from a bit of post-colonialist literature that became famous when made into a movie starring John Malkovich. The romantic, free-roaming lifestyle glorifies travelling and is something with which Cubenx naturally identifies. “We’re not tourists, we’re travellers: tourists are those who think about going home from the moment they arrive, whereas a traveller might not come back at all.”
As an expression of this ever-shifting state and no-return mindset, unpredictability reigns over ‘Elegiac’, which is a powerful, fully bloomed machine whose movements are epic and whose orchestrations are intricate. Far from the techno world he first operated in, Cubenx’s style on this album has been shattered to pieces and recollected around new elements, some of them gleaned on the road, such as a healthy dose of UK bass that he adapts to new forms for his own peculiar purposes in the euphoric ‘Treasures,’ the lush trap affair of ‘Our Fire’ or the collision of electro, jungle and field recordings that is the final cut.
Some tracks also feature proper pop inclinations with great vocals such as ‘Drizzling Lemon’ or ‘Blindfold’ with international singers Cyane from Mexico, Yasmin Hamdan from Lebanon, Pris Wayland from France, and the undetermined entity Born In Flamez from Berlin. These songs add a classy, electronic sweetness that showcase the diversity of Cubenx’s compositions.

From under his techno cape, Cubenx has produced a handful of releases that have enveloped dancefloors in luxuriant sound design and translucent kick drums. And yet, when he picks up his guitar his songs are inspired as much by English post-punk and shoegaze as shamanic cults. It’s no easy matter maintaining this ambiguity in a branch of music that likes things instantly recognisable and clearly categorised. It’s even tougher when your own label encourages you not to respect any format.
Recorded in his studio in Berlin this winter, the four tracks on “Mercurial” are Cubenx’s last ditch effort to reconcile his demons. Far from painful listening, the EP flows effortlessly from track to track, like the chapters of a good novel – classy and addictive.
