Fritz Kalkbrenner – Void (André Hommen Remix)
German native Fritz Kalkbrenner’s new single Void, released on 20th January via SUOL/BMG get’s Andre Hommen rework.
Taken from his imminently released third studio album Ways Over Water, Kalkbrenner’s most recent offering, Void, exemplifies a more refined method in production where classic song structure takes precedence over more common electronic elements, transcending classic dance genres like techno or house.
This remix comes from fellow German Dj/Producer and house music obsessive Andre Hommen, hailing from Dennis Ferrers Objektivity camp and who’s EP has already gained support from house heavyweights including Ame, Dixon, Hot Since 82 and Tensake to name a few. Creating a great minimal driven atmosphere with his remix leading the vocal to a great big room moment with additional chords and synth patterns.
Video: Fritz Kalkbrenner – Void
Acclaimed German producer and singer-songwriter FRITZ KALKBRENNER has unveiled a daring and bold new music video to accompany his latest single “Void.”
Shot in the picturesque surroundings of Switzerland’s Lake Geneva by French creative team FREEDOM, the visual accompaniment for “Void” spares no expense in presenting the viewer with a truly stunning piece of cinematography. The camera freely pans across the monumental peaks of the Swiss Alps, tailing a Golden Eagle, bobbing, weaving and rapidly dropping into the rough tide of Lake Geneva itself.
As the video develops, the panoramic landscapes of the lake are replaced by the urban backdrops of the scenic streets of Paris, where POV camera angles are used to immerse the viewer into a soaring visual as seen by the eagle while it hovers over the city.
Taken from his third studio album WAYS OVER WATER, set for release in the U.S. on March 24th 2015 (Suol/BMG), KALKBRENNER’s most recent track exemplifies a more refined method in production, where classic song structure takes precedence over more common electronic elements, transcending classic dance genres like techno or house.

Fritz Kalkbrenner – Ways Over Water LP
“Ways Over Water” is the new studio album from Fritz Kalkbrenner, one of Germany’s most original electronic music artists. A singer/songwriter as well as producer, the Berlin-based artist will release his third album in the U.S. on March 24th 2015 via Suol/BMG. Leading the charge is the first single “Void,” available this Friday, January 16th 2915 alongside remixes by Gui Borratto, Baron Dafoe, Talul and Andre Hommen as part of an EP release on Beatport.
Kalkbrenner’s Ways Over Water was produced in Suol-Studios in Kreuzberg and follows the musical direction he started with his debut single “Wingman” in 2009. On Ways Over Water, Kalkbrenner stays with the formula that made his previous albums Here Today Gone Tomorrow and Sick Travellin so special–dusty, distorted drums, licks on Rhodes piano or guitars and melodic bass lines within strong electronic tracks. This time the instrumentation has been expanded with great brass elements as well. Very present again is his unique voice that turns tracks like “Heart Of The City,” “One Of These Days” and “Void” into cherished works, as the vocal takes center stage even more than before.
Clubby instrumental tracks alternate perfectly with electronic pop songs based on classic songwriting and driven by Fritz’ voice. After the first two tracks, it becomes clear that he has developed his sound into his own sonic universe, which doesn’t stick to but transcends genres like house, techno or pop. One of the most surprising tracks on the album is “Front Of The World” with its Afro-beat groove and mellow-soul brass parts, that once more proves Fritz Kalkbrenner’s versatility. A versatility that, through the disco funk of “Pass The Buck,” the hypnotic house ecstasy of “Pitch Perfect” and the radio-friendly catchiness of “The Sun,” makes for a perfectly infectious album.
Look for FRITZ KALKBRENNER to make his way stateside in the coming months to support Ways Over Water. Details to be announced soon.

Video: Booka Shade – Crossing Borders feat. Fritz Kalkbrenner
Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier, a.k.a. Booka Shade, are back with their new single ‘Crossing Borders’, which features Fritz Kalkbrenner on vocals and sees the German house duo back in the studio after their 2013 album EVE. In true Booka Shade style, ‘Crossing Borders’ is the kind of deep, smooth house track that brings a dance floor together in the small hours, and Fritz Kalkbrenner’s vocals feel a perfect fit. No word yet on a new album from the duo so far, but this new single is surely a sign of more to come, and the video is a trippy delight.
‘Crossing Borders EP‘ is released on Embassy One/Blaufield Music and can be stream in the player above. Grab it and the remixes from Beatport here: http://bit.ly/cb-beatport
