Moby – Black Lacquer EP

Moby is a true electronic music pioneer. He redefined rave on singles like 1990’s “Go,” then slowed down to explore its aftermath on the multiplatinum Play LP. Decades later, the man is still firing off pointed, personal salvos and dance music curveballs from his LA studio – and, in a most fitting partnership, he’s enlisted Fool’s Gold to remix his iconic catalog on the diverse new Black Lacquer EP (out this Friday, 2/10). Treasure Fingers, Madeaux, High Klassified, and FG co-founder Nick Catchdubs each put their own spin on Moby hits like “Natural Blues” and “Porcelain,” bouncing from industrial experiments and futuristic techno workouts to late-night house and zooted club bass. Black Lacquer isn’t the Moby you’ve heard before, but a surprising collection that keeps his trailblazing spirit alive.

Miami nightlife fixture Damaged Goods makes his Fool’s Gold debut with the ultra-catchy house cut “Where Do You Go?” featuring Jesse Boykins III. DG’s official remixes for A-Trak, Chromeo, Grandtheft (Mad Decent) and more have kept him in DJ rotation around the world, but this original track takes the vibes to another level. Vintage after-midnight synth riffs and haunting vocals meet up somewhere between South Beach and Paisley Park, making “Where Do You Go?” a summer playlist must-add.

Video: Black Atlass – Tonight

Black Atlass’ slinky, seductive single “Tonight” on Fool’s Gold gets an equally alluring music video from acclaimed fashion photographer Kenneth Cappello. Conjuring a high-gloss world of vintage supermodel shoots, the classic B&W beach video vibes quickly turn hallucinatory, with Black Atlass’ yearning vocals soundtracking a Cronenberg-worthy body party. Even if tarantulas aren’t your turn on (yet), “Tonight” is a must-watch.

Video: Madeaux – Kill For Me

Dancing diamonds and hypercolor predators clash in the glitchy and beautiful new video for Madeaux’ “Kill For Me,” taken from his debut Fool’s Gold EP New Wav. Director Yoshi Sodeoka (Tame Impala, Yeasayer) creates a moody virtual world for Madeaux’ haunting melodies and thumping drum tracks to run wild, setting a tone for this Miami-born, LA-based producer’s signature take on modern day electronic music. Watch and see just why Billboard tapped Madeaux as one of their Dance Artists to Watch in 2016.
