Felix Da Housecat – Founders Of Filth Vol. One

Two time Grammy nominated Felix Da Housecat kickstarts his new label with three original tracks showcasing his timeless production. Founders Of Filth Volume One features the legendary Jamie Principle, who found fame as Frankie Knuckles vocalist and more recently starring in the 2017 Gorillaz album. Montreal DJ and producer Clarian also features on the debut release, concluding the stellar line-up.

A career spanning over thirty years, Felix dreams of going back to basics with his new label, “an imprint where no rules apply.. you can be as creative as you want to be, as a community. I just got so tired of fighting labels and for my people to shine, it went on deaf ears”. Born in Detroit, raised in Chicago, Felix has also been inspired by the dance scene that is emerging in Montreal, “I was very impressed by how people are truly into their art.. it’s about your love for the craft not for the money”.

Setting the tone for the EP, In Thee Now exposes a true master at work, demonstrating Felix’s passion for the dancefloor. Transforming into his alias for Know Thyself, Aphrohead and Clarian deliver a warm and playful classic. Taking no prisoners, It’s Your World brings in the powerful vocals of Jamie Principle, layered over an immensely catchy rhythm and concluding the EP with a dazzling production.

Felix has reached dizzying heights over his career, releasing on Global Cuts, Defected, Crosstown Rebels among others. Remixing artists including; Kylie Minogue, Pet Shop Boys, Madonna and Gwen Stefani. Felix has also previously collaborated with Diddy, James Murphy, and Miss Kittin.

Felix Da Housecat – Queer / The Natural

Chicago house legend Felix Da Housecat has released the official video for “Queer (feat. Romina Cohn)”. The brooding, seductive visual stars Romina Cohn herself, who takes directing credit for video as well. It’s a sultry, morbid ride — brace yourself.

Felix has also released a brand new remix of “Queer” by Swiss producer Dave The Hustler who twists the original into a slow burning tech house anthem.

“Queer” comes from Felix Da Housecat’s brand new album Narrative Of Thee Blast Illusion, which represents Felix in his element and at his most nuanced, showcasing an ever-evolving sonic palate while retaining the inimitable groove throughout.

His first release since 2011’s Son of Analog, Narrative sees Felix (who has collaborated with everyone from Diddy to Nile Rodgers) return to the fore at the top of his game after more than three decades of making musical history with his most soulful and introspective record yet.

Alongside the new video for “Queer,” also worth a close look is the official video for album track “The Natural” featuring reggae production legend and dub pioneer Lee “Scratch” Perry. View the trippy visual below.
