Sarah P. – Athena
The second instalment of Sarah P.’s upcoming album Plotting Revolutions consists of the songs “Athena” & “The Poem of a Clear Conscience”. Athena is a beat-driven, disco-inspired song about Sarah’s hometown – her “old/new home”, as she calls it. “Athena is a song I wrote about Athens while I was still living in Berlin and reluctant to resettle in my hometown. Many things have changed since then, but not my complicated relationship with the city I love to call my old/new home. Music-wise, I continue exploring the disco elements and the more organic sound of my Maenads EP, adding a “sturdy” rhythm section and floating synths & vocals that well-represent the paradoxes of my city – the edginess and fragility of Athens and its people.”
On the other hand, The Poem of a Clear Conscience is carried along by its lyrics and playful synths, keeping up with Sarah’s sarcastic flair for pop music. A poetic take on the times we live in and the incapability of our world leaders to find a common ground for matters that affect us all. “I find it troubling that politicians nowadays still choose to play on and by small party interests, when we’re faced with great challenges that question the longevity of our planet, as well as with big scale social, political, and economical instabilities that undermine the democratic values, worldwide”.
With the addition of the two new songs, following the release of first singles “Laying Low” & “She”, it’s becoming clear that Plotting Revolutions is a contemporary record that’s addressing difficult matters without losing its humor and positivity. Plotting Revolutions is Sarah P.’s most mature work to date, both musically and lyrically. Sarah is standing opposite to the society with a mirror, trying to wake up all those who may be sleeping – themes she’s been continuously exploring through her work (Who Am I, Maenads EP).

Video: Sarah P. – LoveStory
Dream pop, slow jam “LoveStory” is the new single by Sarah P, out of her debut album Who Am I (out now via EraseRestart). The video was filmed by the award-winning director Eftychia Iosifidou and features Sarah and Clio Arvaniti. Friendship and sisterhood are two of the key themes of the video. What we witness is an unbreakable bond between two girls who no matter how far they are, they’ll always be close. “I like to think of it as the perfect day – a love story to last,” says Sarah. A heart-warming video, reassuring that when you give, you’re most likely going to get something back.
“LoveStory” is dedicated to those who, after experiencing hard times in their lives, got to find true bliss through someone or something and managed to let go of their infelicitous past. It’s also addressed to that special someone or something that lightens up our days. “You’re the one. I’m the earth and you’re my sun,” Sarah sings, well knowing that love is an essential part of our lives. “It’s a love song that can be sung to a mom, dad, child, sibling, friend, pet, lover; whomever/whatever’s cheering you up needs to receive this love letter,” she shares.

Sarah P. – Berlin During Winter (Holly Remix)
A few weeks after the release of “Berlin During Winter“, the first single of Sarah P.’s upcoming debut album Who Am I, Holly delivers a remix that’s bending between tropical house and chill-out.
Along today’s remix release Sarah shared an article stating:
“Today, I’m writing to share with you a piece of sunshine. Holly, a very talented young man from Portugal, reworked Berlin During Winter and gave it a South European treatment. And it got sunny and summery – definitely nostalgic and eerie. It lost its rocky edge, but for a very reassuring beat and calming piano melody that’s embracing the words and the feelings. Berlin During Winter is not depressive now – it’s just melancholic, like a beautiful girl with dark lips and a nonchalantly empty look. But she’s got more to it, the song’s got more to it.
As I wrote in my previous letter to you, Berlin During Winter is about all those things that I cannot wrap around my head. I ask you to take a moment and think of all the things that you cannot understand. All those things that are happening in the world and upset you, annoy you or leave you in shock. […] My solidarity goes to all of you who feel confused and disoriented. We’ll always have Berlin during winter.”

It is the second time that Sarah P. & Holly work together. In 2015, the Portuguese producer already remixed “Galaxy” by Sun Glitters & Sarah P. Since then, Holly toured Europe, North America, Australia, China, and India, released with labels like Buygore, Fool’s Gold Records, Dim Mak Records, Elysian Records, Good Enuff, Divison Recordings and Circus Records. Sarah P. – Who Am I LP
“During our particularly troubled times, some introspection is more than needed.”
On May 12, 2017, Sarah P.’s solo debut full-length “Who Am I” will be released. A pop record that is different, an ode to the humanly deep need of security and love and a piece of art that reads pages from Sarah P.’s diaries. It’s an album about fears, hopes, memories, dreams – and love. Inspired by Berlin, her Greek roots & personal struggles, Sarah asks “Who Am I? Who are we?”
“Our ethics, our cultures are shaping us, but what we become is completely our choice. I’ve been constantly asking myself “who am I”. Have you?”, asks Sarah in her latest article. Although the album is inspired by her struggles and personal fights, the humor and positivity are not missing – Sarah’s sarcasm is omnipresent, so is her passion for a better change that we all can bring once we decide to do so. It’s the realization that we have to start by asking ourselves who we are, who we want to be, and what we stand for.
On “Who Am I”, Sarah P. gets political, comments on our societies, serenades about true love, criticizes herself, and shares her fears and dreams. “There’s no right and there’s no wrong, but there’s hope,” says Sarah. “And while we’re feeling defeated, even during those dark hours, there’s hope we can do better. And we will.”
Following up her solo debut EP “Free” (2015), the full-length album “Who Am I” will be released on May 12, 2017, via Sarah P.’s own label EraseRestart. The album consists of ten songs that Sarah wrote in Berlin while thinking of her hometown Athens. “Who Am I” was produced together with George Prinotakis at Artracks Studios Athens, the surrounding she already knew before from her years as frontwoman of Keep Shelly in Athens. The album’s first single “Berlin During Winter” will be out on January 6th, 2017.

Sarah P.’s career in music started in 2010, during her final year at the drama school, as the lead singer of the successful indie group Keep Shelly in Athens. In 2014, Sarah left the band and moved to Berlin to focus on her solo career. After collaborations with artists like Mmoths, Sun Glitters, The New Division, The Bilinda Butchers, her solo debut record “Free” was released in December 2015 via her own label EraseRestart. Her full-length album “Who Am I” is out on May 12, 2017.

Sarah P. – Little Soul

Within a short time Sarah P.’s song “Little Soul” (of her recent solo EP “Free”) gained more than 155.000 plays in the past couple of months on Spotify. With today’s video release Sarah shares an article on the true meaning behind the song, sending a powerful message to other people who, after experiencing abuse, felt lost but rose at last, like a phoenix. Q&A: Sarah P.
Sarah Anna Psalti, known as Sarah P., is a singer, songwriter and actress hailing from Greece. Her music career started in 2010, as the frontwoman of the Athenean dream pop duet Keep Shelly in Athens. After she parted ways with the band in early 2014, she relocated to Berlin to start fresh. Sarah P. has collaborated with many artists, including Sun Glitters, Mmoths, The New Division and many more.
Her own music is minimalistic and inspired from nineties sounds. The genre she identifies with is Pop/R’n’B. While having a sinister music touch, her positive intentions deliver a clear message. Sarah P. is not just a person, but a movement that empowers every single person who’s about to begin new. With her music she invites everyone to pack the bad memories in a box and start a journey towards becoming their own dream heroes.
Today Sarah P. has her birthday (#TeamDec14) and she celebrates it by releasing her debut solo EP, called “Free“.
We caught up with Sarah for a small chat about “Free”, her musical influences and her next plans. Read our q&a session and make sure to stream “Free EP” in its entirety below.
Zac: Singer, songwriter and actress. How do you manage your time?
Sarah: I combine them all! Let’s be real, I haven’t done that much acting, but only a couple of things here’s and there’s. I kind of miss it, but being an actor means you should be dedicated to your art more than 100% and I cannot promise that. I’d say that I’m an artist and because of the fact the music industry is really fucked up, I’ve become my own promoter, label, etc. I have reached a point that I simply don’t want to give away the control – I know exactly what I want and it’s easier (and faster) for me to just go for it. If I’m changing hats between different positions, that’s my art, its promotion and EraseRestart. My team and me are the definition of DIY and it’s true that sometimes we lose the track of time. So, to answer your question, I always feel that I have no time. I pretty much work 24/7 to keep up with everything.
Zac: When did your music journey begin? Where do your musical influences come from?
Sarah: My parents blew inside me their love for the music. They were taking me to all places were good music was played – whether that was a bar, a club or a concert venue. They were always taking me with them. They also signed me up for piano and keyboards lessons that I followed till the point that I felt too cool for it (that’s one of the few things that if I could go back in time and talk to my younger self, I’d tell her to get herself together). I was also part of choirs, like during all my school years.
As for my influences, all kinds of music have had a certain impact on me – from the cheesiest pop to classic music. If I had to pick a music genre that’s somehow shaped me that would be post-punk/dark wave. That’s the music that I always put on to relax, feel better and unload.
Zac: Tell us more about your debut EP, what “Free” means to you? Which is your favorite song?
Sarah: “Free” is like an anthology. It’s all about joining the actual adulthood, freeing yourself from the past and taking all matters to your own hands. Growing up comes at different points for each and every of us – it has nothing to do we the actual age, that’s just a number! “Free” is a really personal album and at the same time a call to its listeners to get off their couches, get out of their comfort zone and live their dreams. It’s calling them to be the people who they want to be. My generation has lost its focus. We live fast, work hard but get paid too less and go with the flow, expecting to grow old and die. We stopped fighting because we think that we don’t have the time for it. “Free” and myself as a human being living on planet earth aim to be this call to action. On the EP, I’m reporting the decision making and the (sometimes rough) journey of mine to reach where I am now. Nobody said it’s easy to be free!
All songs mean something special to me. I love “I’d Go” because it sounds naive but it’s super cheeky (if you pay attention to the lyrics). But it’s hard to choose.. “Little Soul” is a difficult song, but whenever I sing it I get so emotional because it is super personal and takes me back to really hard times. “Golden Deer” is a song we made together with Greek artist/producer/talented man Hiras and it’s also special since it serves as the “catharsis” of the EP. I cannot pick just one!
Zac: Which is the ideal place to listen to your music?
Sarah: Wherever it feels like home.
Zac: Athens, Berlin. Which city inspires you most?
Sarah: I’m an Athenean. I am born and raised in Athens and lived there till I was 24. Athens will always inspire me and in my opinion it’s one of the most special places in the world. Greece, in general, is one of the most special places in the world. My “Greekness” will never wear off, you know? From the other hand, Berlin is still somehow new to me and I have to admit that’s truly inspiring. I don’t go out that often, but the area I live is a new age Babel. Multi-culti, international and a bit crazy. Strangely, it reminds me of Athens and sometimes I see no difference. I feel that I am in the same city. On top of it all, wherever I go I hear Greek – like everywhere. It doesn’t really feel I’ve moved away. Athens is in my heart and Berlin has become my new home. Both cities are charming in their own way and inspiring because they’re heavenly, but in a sleazy way.
Zac: Which are your favorite tracks/artists at the moment?
Sarah: My favorite album of the year is the one that Editors made. I’ve been listening to “In Dream” obsessively. It is the only album of the last years that I can listen to it from the top to the end and not skip a tune.
Zac: What was the first record/album you bought?
Sarah: It was “Xessaloniki” by the amazing Greek band Xylina Spathia.
Zac: How do you chill out?
Sarah: I never chill out. I am always kind of intense. I am not a chill person, I don’t want to be a chill person. Music can calm me down, but “calm me down” like, for my standards.
Zac: What’s next? Should we expect a LP too? Any new collaborations?
Sarah: My album will come out in 2016, yes. It’s in the making! Touring with my band mates is something I’m looking forward to because I’ve missed the stage. As for collaborations, there are things coming up, there are talks but there’s nothing to announce already.
Zac: What are you most excited about right now?
Sarah: Playing my songs live, recording the LP and living fully this moment. This album, EraseRestart and the new version/direction of mine (artistically), mark the beginning of a beautiful journey.

Almost two years ago, somewhere in Nothern Europe, I had a truly dirty Sunday. What’s important after falling is to get up again and that’s what I did. Now, I find myself in Central Europe and although I can still relate to the icy, moody atmosphere of “Dirty Sunday”, I can guarantee to you that there is plenty of time to erase and restart. For all of us.
“Dirty Sunday” is the opener of “Free”. As I told you before, “Free” has this wide range of moods and that’s because it follows a journey of two years. The whole point of “Free” is to prove that it’s possible to start over. It’s not easy, but it’s possible – all you need is to believe and to see yourself where you want to be. “Dirty Sunday” is the moment that you realize that, in order to be happy, you need to change it all. Sometimes we lose track with our lives. It happens to each and every of us. We live fast and apparently, we don’t have the luxury to reflect on each decision we make. We don’t take the time to filter and think thoroughly. Instead of blaming ourselves or the people around us, we can choose to move forward and make it better. It sounds like a brave move, but I believe that all of us have this strength inside us to pull that through.

Sarah P. – I’d Go

“I’d Go”, the first single of Sarah P.’s upcoming EP “Free”, just premiered via Kaltblut Magazine and is now available for streaming on Soundcloud. This song was the last brick of her EP. It was written and recorded spontaneously in only one afternoon and is a rather positive song about deciding to move forward – no matter what.
On her first solo EP, the Athenean songsmith & former frontwoman of Keep Shelly in Athens is exploring the journey of breaking free from one’s demons. “Free” is unfolding in seven songs and is divided in two parts/emotions. The first part is about those moments when one knows that it’s about time to change things but because of the society’s rules and standards, this person is left high and dry. The second part is watching this person revolting again all those philistines who put him/her down. “Free” will be released on Sarah P.’s birthday on Dec 14th via her very own label ERASERESTART.
“I’d go” is the exact moment when the heroine of this story decides to get out of her comfort zone and to -reluctantly in the beginning but fiercely by the end – fight and break from her chain ball. Let the uplifting pop song will take you on a mind trip:
