Chromatics Pay Tribute To David Lynch’s “Blue Velvet” & The Legendary Julee Cruise. Directed By Rene & Radka. Filmed In Los Angeles February 14 2016. Edited By Chromatics.
Legendary composer Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet) is revisiting one of the Blue Velvet soundtrack’s most important musical moments, the airy ballad “Mysteries of Love.” The track is reworked with emerging artist Greek born, LA-based Elena Charbila aka Kid Moxie for her upcoming album, 1888.
“‘Mysteries of Love’ is the first song that David (Lynch) and I collaborated on. And the magic of it set the tone and identity for all that followed,” Badalamenti explains. “Elena’s cover, recorded sensitively and beautifully, couldn’t have come at a better time.” Check it out below.
Moby remixed "The Big Dream", the title track to David Lynch’s most recent album, enlisting frequent collaborator Mindy Jones. He also directed a video for it, full of smoke and strobes. Watch the video below. The remix is taken from a Record Store Day release which also includes remixes by Hot Since 82, Bastille, Bjorn Yttling and Venetian Snares.
UK synth pop pioneer John Foxx (the former frontman of the British synth-pop band Ultravox) and his current collaborator Jori Hulkkonen (who also records with Sin Cos Tan) have a new EP, “European Splendour“, out August 19 via Sugarcane Recordings. They’ve just shared the video for “Evangeline”, directed by Gabriel Pulecio and Lorena Kraus, below. The “European Splendour” EP arrives with a remix from film icon David Lynch. Watch the videos for both tracks, below and and listen to the entire European Splendor EP here.
