Daft Punk will perform at The Grammys on February 12th, alongside The Weeknd. It will be Daft Punk’s first performance since their last appearance at the Grammys in 2014.
Homework, the debut legendary studio album by the French electronic music duo Daft Punk, was released 20 years ago, on 20 January 1997 by Virgin Records and Soma Quality Recordings.
The Weeknd is ready to release his new album, Starboy, next Friday via XO/Republic. Following the release of the title track with Daft Punk, he just shared two new songs, “False Alarm” (watch the official video here) and the second collaboration with the French duo called “I Feel It Coming.” Check it out below!
Academy Award®-nominated, two-time GRAMMY Award®-winning multiplatinum alternative R&B THE WEEKND makes history yet again, capturing the record for “Most Release Weekend Streams Ever” with his brand new single “Starboy” featuring Daft Punk. It’s the title track and first single from his mega-anticipated fourth full-length album Starboy [XO/Republic Records], arriving November 25, 2016.
Pre-Order the album HERE.
“Starboy” went live at digital partners on Thursday September 22. Between Thursday and Sunday, it amassed over 17 million streams globally and 6.5 million streams in the United States alone, shattering the previous record in the process. Meanwhile, at radio, “Starboy” stands out as the “One Week Most Added Record of All Time in North America,” becoming #1 Most Added at Top 40, Rhythm, Urban, and Hot AC—yet another history-making accolade. This sets the stage for Starboy to become one of the biggest albums of 2016.
The official “Starboy” music video premiered today on VEVO at 12pm ET. Directed by frequent collaborator Grant Singer, it offers up an explosive visual companion to the song. Watch below:
On October 1, THE WEEKND takes the stage as the musical guest on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live. He’ll be performing “Starboy” live for the very first time and will also be performing at the Meadows Music & Arts Festival at Citi Field on Saturday evening at the new time of 6:15pm ET.
Le Knight Club is the side project of Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel De Homem Christo and Eric Chedeville. Almost 13 years after their latest release, the duo unveiled a new track for a feature film, Gates of The Sun, which can be stream below.
According to numerous whispers, there might even be a return of their label Crydamoure and a Guy-man solo album, too!
“Today (March 2nd 2015) we celebrate 18 years since Daft Punk’s iconic Essential Mix from March 2nd, 1997. Here is a special mini-mix of Daft Punk’s mix, with a little story from Dance music legend and their manager at the time, Busy P. This mini-mix is taken from we celebrated reaching the landmark of 500 Essential Mix DJs back in 2010. Download here: bbc.in/1GHlUfo.”
Back in January 2005, American dance-punk act LCD Soundsystem released their debut same titled album on DFA Records, which featured their great single “Daft Punk Is Playing At My House”. The accompanying music video paid tongue-in-cheek homage to Spike Jonze‘s and Michel Gondry‘s music videos for Daft Punk’s “Da Funk” and “Around the World,” respectively.
