Chrome Sparks – All Or Nothing feat. Angelica Bess

chrome-sparks

Chrome Sparks is excited to share a new single “All Or Nothing”, which is out now. The single features Body Language’s Angelica Bess. Chrome Sparks is currently touring the US (tour dates here), having just finished select dates as the support for Flume. Chrome Sparks recently announced his signing to Counter Records (a Ninja Tune imprint) and has spent the past several months working on his debut album in a cabin in upstate New York.

The Brooklyn-based artist, born Jeremy Malvin, grew up in Pittsburgh and spent formative time in Ann Arbor before settling east and converting a legion of supporters to his deftly hybridized sound, including Pitchfork, Dancing Astronaut, Indie Shuffle, and FADER. Chrome Sparks first burst into electronic music consciousness in 2012 with “Marijuana”, a Bandcamp compilation track turned Internet phenomenon (organically rocketing to #1 on HypeMachine and racking up over 18 million cumulative streams to date). Since then he’s released three EPs via Future Classic (including subsequent breakthrough track “Moonraker”), remixed Chet Faker, Porter Robinson, Fred Falke and Blackbird Blackbird among others, and played sold out shows throughout North America, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Most recently Malvin and his friend Charlie Brand of Miniature Tigers released an EP under the band name Promises LTD.

Navid Izadi – Messin EP

WLM46_artwork

With a sound that calls back to 90s latin house and freestyle energies, Navid Izadi’s ‘Messin’ is a nostalgic club track that tells the story of a girl who wants to have her cake and eat it, too, and a man who ain’t having any more of it.

Lush synth pads wrap around a nasty bassline to take things immediately into party town. The deal is sealed with big vocals from Izadi himself and Body Language’s Angelica Bess, topped off with some live percussion and housey piano keys. The ‘Shade’s Up Dub’ digs even deeper for a drugged out sunrise scorcher that wouldn’t be out of place on the record store shelves of yesteryear.

‘Hard 2 Say’ takes a different route, mixing analog synth drums and yearning vocoder verses with Elfman-esque choir chords and G-funk synth leads to create a mysterious sound that’s equal parts romantic and tough. ‘Messin’ get’s a remix from the dynamite disco troupe, Midnight Magic, that sounds a bit like Larry Heard if he were speeding down the Pacific Coast Highway in a white convertible. ‘Hard 2 Say’ gets a remix from Funkadelic friends, FSQ, lacing it up with live drums, bass and guitar to take the track into deep intergalactic funk territory.

o+ Not many people can say they rap, DJ, produce & sing, but Navid Izadi is no ordinary artist. A member of the Crew Love gang, he has previously collaborated with Deniz Kurtel, Pillow Talk & Soul Clap. He regularly tours the world and his track ‘Feelin’ Purple’ (Soul Clap Remix) was named as Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune.

Body Language – Really Love (Gold Fields ‘Body Funk’ Remix)

Body Language – whose latest single “Really Love” b/w “Reset” was released last month – are happy to reveal a new remix of the A-side by Australia’s Gold Fields.  The track – one that should get you on the dance floor in no time – premiered earlier today via Hilly Dilly who said, “The fresh version of the track that’s been born is far more than a simple remix, and it’s pretty safe to say that it’s a full-on nu-disco banger.”

February also saw the band bringing their soulful disco party to venues on the West Coast, Denver and a sold-out party at Baby’s All Right in their hometown of Brooklyn.  They have just confirmed a string of dates in May and are currently at home working on new music.

Tei Shi – Bassically (Body Language Remix)

tei shi

The unstoppable Tei Shi will be embarking on SXSW this year, announcing her schedule today. Valerie Teicher will be playing 7 shows over 6 days in Austin including performances at the NYLON Party, the Tumblr Party, Pigeons and Planes and a special show at the iconic Stubbs. KCRW has named her as one of the new artists to see in Texas and you can check out her full schedule below including set times. Do not miss one of these shows.

Tei Shi also teamed up with Body Language who gave her infectious R&B pop classic “Bassically” the remix treatment. The new track was premiered over at Flaunt Magazine who write “Body Language’s remix of Tei Shi’s most recent single, transforms the track from an understated pop lullaby into an understated disco thumper. In a track that’s less FKA Twigs and more PC Music, Shi’s hypnotic vocals and looped melodies are both softer and more urgent, second to the beat and mesmeric bass.”

The new and highly anticipated Verde EP is due out April 14th on Mermaid Ave / Mom + Pop Music and Tei Shi has just signed with Canadian tastemaker powerhouse Arts & Crafts for Canada. Double Denim will release Verde in the UK.

Video: Body Language – Really Love

body language

On the heels of rowdy and successful West Coast tour – where they played to packed rooms – Body Language are excited to reveal a video for their latest single “Really Love.” Directed by Dirby it debuted via Under The Radar who said in the video, “we see a scenario reminiscent of Alice following the white rabbit down the rabbit-hole, but things get very risqué very quickly as the subject of the video finds herself in what looks like a glittery dance club/orgy.”
