Outblack is the new solo project from french artist Frédéric Rivière, aka Anoraak, featuring collaborations with a selection of other artists. Not confined by any specific genre, the aesthetic is clearly a combination of electronic and modern worlds; uncluttered and based on black and white visuals, his work outlines sonic landscapes, heavily influenced by the work of painter Pierre Soulages.
Rooted in avant-garde electropop, reminiscent of Junior Boys, Outblack’s cinematic productions embrace today’s electronic music standards, using both synthesizers and organically recorded sounds, resulting in a perfect balance between human emotion and machine-like strictness.
After piquing the interest of underground tastemakers with his first track “How Hard It Is (feat. Lenparrot)”, his debut EP will be released in May of 2017, featuring Brothertiger and Moona.
Oυтвlacĸ feat. Brothertiger – Lost in the Void video:
Since making their debut in 2015 Anglo-French duo Loframes (London based musician James Yuill & Antibes producer Franck Russo) have quickly established themselves as ones to watch. Their debut single ‘Get Real (Can’t Touch Your Love)’, a stylish mix of synth-pop, deep house and nu-disco won them a legion of fans amongst both DJs, public and press and seen them called upon to remix the likes of M83, Miami Horror, Keep Shelly In Athens amongst many others.
How having topped the Hype Machine charts twice already in 2016 they turn with a brand new single, the effortlessly laid back and stylish ’Since You’ve Gone’. Featuring guest vocals from French Nu-Disco star Anoraak and released via brand new Los Angeles imprint Midnight In Paris ‘Since You’ve Gone’ sees Loframes step away from the dancefloor and repair to their yacht to nurse their broken hearts. Emotional turmoil has never sounded so luxurious.
Accompanying the original are two remixes that retool ‘Since You’ve Gone’ for clubs. Rising Brooklyn star LEFTI swaps the original’s pastel hues for chrome shades, jagged arpeggios and a propulsive beat that transforms the track into the perfect soundtrack for a night drive through a hot city in an impossibly expensive car. Swiss producer Worship meanwhile layers synths upon synths transforming the track into a hymn for the dancefloor and building the track up to an ecstatic disco release.
Since You’ve Gone EP drops worldwide July 27th on Midnight in Paris.
“A feel good love song that’s going to stick with you. Listen to it, like you own it.” – NTEIBINT
Having worked together to deliver the highly successful ‘Never Without You’ on Eskimo last year, NTEIBINT and Stella keep standards sky high with another electrifying slice of electronic pop in ‘The Owner’. Also appearing on Eskimo’s ‘The Orange Collection’, French artist Anoraak offers an elevating remix with radiant piano keys. Justin Faust injects a sense of warmth into his remix with blissful, smooth synths. The release is completed with a beautiful ‘Beatless Version’ and ‘Extended Mix’.
o+ George Bakalakos aka NTEIBINT is a Greek DJ and producer whose productions and remixes can be found on the likes of Warp, Bang Gang, Kitsuné and of course Eskimo. He also runs a successful radio show in Athens. Also from Greece, Stella Chronopoulou is the founding member of two bands: Fever Kids and CHEST. In the summer of 2013 she was signed by Inner Ear Records as a solo artist and her debut album dropped in February this year.
o+o+ Anoraak is the musical brainchild of Frédéric Rivière. He has remixed acts like We Have Band, Neon Indian and Metronomy and has made quite a name for himself in the synth-pop, italo and indie-dance genres. Justin Faust has quickly emerged at the vanguard of Europe’s nu-disco-electro-dance sound which has taken over dancefloors. Although based in Munich, he is an integral member of Portugal’s DISCOTEXAS label.
