Video: Johanna Burnheart – Sisyphos (Acid Pauli Remix)
Following the release of her debut album Burnheart last year, acclaimed German musician Johanna Burnheart has announced Burnheart Remixed: a new collection of reimagined album tracks from four singularly talented electronic producers.
Dropping alongside the announcement of the EP is a stunning music video for Acid Pauli’s remix of Sisyphos. The video stars Leonie Benesch (The Crown, Babylon Berlin) and is the directorial debut of Sorcha Kennedy: a reimagining of the Greek myth of Sisyphos, who was condemned to repeat the same task, day after day.
Acid Pauli – Abbebe
Acid Pauli (real name: Martin Gretschmann) will release his new album, BLD, via his own Ouïe imprint on March 24. BLD explores “a number of moods and emotions, from dystopian carnivalesque vibes to moments of high intensity, through to deep melancholia and synth laden ambience.”
As he says: “My new album BLD comes from an idea I’ve been carrying around for years, which was to mix a DJ set only consisting of techno and house breaks, the parts which lack the main beat, the kick drum. The result was to sound more like ambient, but it has a very unique thrill, thanks to these breaks always striving for the moment where the kick drum returns. The suspense is basically ramping up constantly. Nicolas Jaar was so stoked about the idea after I told him about it, that he said: Make an album out of it. And that, in turn, convinced me.”

Miajica – I Forgot About Love EP
Miajica follows up on his “Second Spring” EP with two massive balearic anthems supported by remixes from Acid Pauli and Wareika.
There is a certain melancholy yet highly optimistic mood that Miajica is good at conjuring during his more elaborate and emotional tracks. The two originals on his ‘I Forgot About Love’ EP are probably the best examples in his discography of such a mood, since both the Middle Eastern themed ‘I Forgot About Love’ and the dubby ‘Au bord de l’eau’ are deep and emotive, groovy and immersive long-play tracks, devised for that ideal club crowd that likes to indulge in the process, catching every detail.
Acid Pauli and Wareika contribute even more brilliant detail work, retouching the originals in surprising and sophisticated ways. Acid Pauli chisels the melody, rhythm and structure and gives his ‘I Forgot About Acid’ remix a completely new flow, creating a tangible world of new sounds and superb musical moments. Wareika take their original – already an Alma Negra dub – out of its comfort zone and rework it into an anthem by adding more sustain, extra spatiousness, an honest, universally-applealing vocal hook and perfecting everything around the soothing melody with the help of their own instrumentation.
Released on Origami Sound. Wareika’s Vocal Dub of “Au bord de l’eau” will be available exclusively on the 12″ release, while the instrumental version replaces it on the digital version.
Tracklist:

A2. I Forgot About Love (Acid Pauli Remix)

Satori – In Between Worlds (Remixes)
Late May sees the release of the ‘In Between Worlds (Remixes)’ package of Satori on Underyourskin Records, featuring reworks from Acid Pauli, The Micronaut, Kris Davis, Änimal and Mario Aureo.
Following the release of Dutch producer Djordje Petrovic aka Satori’s ‘In Between Worlds’ L.P on Underyourskin Records the imprint delivers a follow up remix package, welcoming an array of exciting producers in the world of electronic music. The Underyourskin imprint has been active since 2012 and is home to artist such as Jonas Saalbach, The Forest and Yapaac, and here we see it push on with some more intelligent and intriguing compositions.
Opening up the package is German producer Acid Pauli’s take on ‘The Whising Spell’ seeing him deliver his typically melodious and mind-bending style with sparse rhythms, arpeggio hooks and gradually unfolding synth sequences. The Micronaut’s ‘Days Without You’ remix follows and takes things into electronica realms with warbling square wave bass and broken beats layered under Miou Amadee’s soulful vocal styling’s.
Dutch duo Änimal then turn in a dropped tempo hypnotic rework of ‘Wasted feat Hugo’ next, laying the focus on subtly blooming pad lines, drawn out bass tones and bubbling percussive hits. Berlin’s Mario Aureo switches things up into dubby realms, turning ‘We Don’t Exist’ into a dance floor workout with fluttering stab hits, a mesmeric synth hook and shuffled drum lines. Kris Davis then rounds off the package with his interpretation of ‘Wasted feat Hugo’ delivering a charming bass driven take, employing dreamy bell chimes, elongated sub bass and expansive atmospherics.
Satori’s ‘In Between Worlds (Remixes)’ is out on Underyourskin Records 22nd May (Vinyl) and 4th June (Digital) 2015.
