Just when you got used to new albums arriving on a Friday, Greek indie pop singer, songwriter Σtella has bucked the trend, gone rogue and decided to release her stunning 2nd album ‘Works For You’ today (Monday). Which is great because it’s an amazing record and the sooner people can listen to it the sooner they can get some temporary relief from this crazy world.
Written and arranged by Σtella (with the exception of two tracks -“Nest” and “Walk Like I Taught You” – co-written with Velissarios Prassas), the album was recorded in Athens in 2016 and produced by artist and producer Nteibint and Σtella.
“Works For You” tells stories – its eleven pop songs talk about love and friendship, and celebrate introspection. With this album, Σtella has taken her music two steps forward, further refining her sound and continuing with her ambitious blends of pop and singer-songwriter influences to create her tightest and most mature work yet.
To mark release day Σtella has also uploaded a live video of her performing ‘I’ll Never Be’ live at Sonic Playground in Athens. You can also now stream the album in full on Spotify and Bandcamp (where you can also pick up the coloured vinyl) and purchase from iTunes and the like.

S.W.I.M. (Someone Who Isn’t Me) debut 7inch is out February 1st via Inner Ear. A new music project by three women in Athens: Marilena Orfanou (synths, composer – Berlin Brides, DJ Loo) Maria Hatzakou (drums – film producer at Haos Film) Gina Dimakopoulou (guitar – Katrin the Thrill). They love analogue sounds and toy synths, chaotic guitars, fake strings, female vocals and off-beat rhythms.
S.W.I.M.’s first appearance was a live ciné concert at the 16th Festival du Film Francophone de Grèce in 2015, where they performed their original soundtrack for the silent 1929 film Astero.
S.W.I.M.’s first single “Never Find It” featuring Natasha Giannaraki was written specially for the closing credits of Athina Rachel Tsangari’s 2015 feature film “Chevalier”, which won Best Film at the BFI London Film Festival.
Their first official release on Inner Ear is a 7″ vinyl single including the tracks Stop & Remember (A Side) and “Leap Of Faith” (B Side), featuring Coti K. and Σtella.
S.W.I.M. and Σtella will represent Greece in SXSW 2017.
“”Stop and Remember” was originally written for a movie about six men playing power, funny games, stuck in a boat in the middle of the sea. It all started with an obsessive ride cymbal rhythm that reminded us of the waves. It’s a pop song within a “soundtrack” filled with strings and toy synths, that will definitely make you look up! We are happy to have the track included in Inner Ear’s 7inch project “A Distant Victory Singles Club”.”
“Stop & Remember” – Music by Marilena Orfanou & Σtella, Lyrics & Vocals by Σtella Produced by Someone Who Isn’t Me & Σtella Mixed & Additional Production by NTEIBINT.

Greek pop singer-songwriter and painter Stella Chronopoulou, aka Σtella, has shared a new track from her forthcoming second album ‘Works For You’ (released next February on Inner Ear Records). “I’ll Never Be” is a beautiful moment of melancholy pop and in her own words a “song about absence. The distance from things we were never close to, or never will be. Relationships we failed to have and experiences we’ll never be a part of.”
Just a year after her successful self-titled debut album, Greek pop singer Stella Chronopoulou, aka Σtella returns with new single “Works For You” – the first single from her forthcoming sophomore LP. Produced by NTEIBINT & ΣTELLA.
Stella Chronopoulou, better known by her stage name Σtella, is a pop singer-songwriter and painter. Born and raised in Athens, Greece she completed her studies in the Athens School of Fine Arts, whereas at the same time she started writing music.
In 2010, Σtella participated on the album “Happend Before” of the avant-pop group My Wet Calvin. At the beginning of the same year she joined the art-rock band Expert Medicine, where she paired with the guitar player and producer Alex Zabaras. In 2011, Σtella and Alex formed the band Fever Kids. Their first single “Holding Grass” was released in January 2014 via Inner Ear, which garnered them critical acclaim. In 2012, Σtella self-released the Ep, entitled “Keep Μe Naked”, through her soundcloud account. Besides her solo work, she has collaborated with several Greek bands such as Sillyboy, Coti K, NTEiBINT, Sad Disco and formed the band Chest with Babis Theocharis. Three months after the successful launch of her s/t debut album, via Inner Ear Records. Athenian electro-pop singer Σtella (pronounced Stella) is pleased to share the video for ‘Picking Words‘. Directed by Christos Massalas. Starring Σtella and Effi Rabsilber.
“A game of identity in a hall of mirrors. Drawing from Bergman’s ‘Persona’ and Magritte’s reflections of a faceless stranger, the moment of attraction is a crack between flashing lights, space and words.”
“A feel good love song that’s going to stick with you. Listen to it, like you own it.” – NTEIBINT
Having worked together to deliver the highly successful ‘Never Without You’ on Eskimo last year, NTEIBINT and Stella keep standards sky high with another electrifying slice of electronic pop in ‘The Owner’. Also appearing on Eskimo’s ‘The Orange Collection’, French artist Anoraak offers an elevating remix with radiant piano keys. Justin Faust injects a sense of warmth into his remix with blissful, smooth synths. The release is completed with a beautiful ‘Beatless Version’ and ‘Extended Mix’.
o+ George Bakalakos aka NTEIBINT is a Greek DJ and producer whose productions and remixes can be found on the likes of Warp, Bang Gang, Kitsuné and of course Eskimo. He also runs a successful radio show in Athens. Also from Greece, Stella Chronopoulou is the founding member of two bands: Fever Kids and CHEST. In the summer of 2013 she was signed by Inner Ear Records as a solo artist and her debut album dropped in February this year.
o+o+ Anoraak is the musical brainchild of Frédéric Rivière. He has remixed acts like We Have Band, Neon Indian and Metronomy and has made quite a name for himself in the synth-pop, italo and indie-dance genres. Justin Faust has quickly emerged at the vanguard of Europe’s nu-disco-electro-dance sound which has taken over dancefloors. Although based in Munich, he is an integral member of Portugal’s DISCOTEXAS label.
