James Hersey unveils the official music video for his captivating new single, ‘Miss You’, which has accumulated an astonishing 15 million streams on Spotify in just two months. Co-edited by Hersey himself and directed/shot by Schall & Schnabel in Berlin this past August, the video for ‘Miss You’ explores the song’s theme of how connections between people exist in today’s day and age.

The track, originally co-produced by James alongside Ed Sheeran collaborator Will Hicks and mixed by Stephen Fitzmaurice (Sam Smith, Disclosure), has shot up the Spotify Charts currently in the top #100 on the Global Chart and in 10 other countries including the UK, U.S. and Canada. ‘Miss You’ also received a stellar remix treatment from HONNE that catapulted the track up to #1 and #2 on the Hype Machine charts.

Despite ‘Miss You’ forming Hersey’s debut single, his voice and lyrics are one many listeners may already be familiar with. Having just performed with Kygo at The Hollywood Bowl in LA for Hersey’s penned track, ‘Coming Over’, the summer-tinged ode to delayed desires is a song that has taken on a whole new life in the dance arena this past year. Initially remixed by Filous (28 million Spotify streams), it’s since been subtly reworked by Kygo & Dillon Francis (a staggering 77 million Spotify streams).

Born and raised in Austria’s capital Vienna, Hersey’s childhood was filled with music. Guitar lessons were augmented by impromptu family music concerts. The house also reverberated to the sounds of Bob Marley, Grateful Dead and, in the mid-nineties, hip-hop. For Hersey himself, Michael Jackson was King. “His confidence and love for everything music was an inspiration to me from the very beginning,” James explains.

Happy to explore musical genres, utilizing that grounding in folk, pop and rock from a young age, Hersey’s songs work in different musical contexts because at the core of them lies classic songwriting. Look out for more to come from James Hersey…
