Desert Sound Colony – Signals
London based band Desert Sound Colony return with new EP Signals. The EP follows the band’s second release Cracks for Frank & Tony’s Scissor & Threadimprint. Since emerging onto the scene with their debut EP for the label in 2014 they have developed from a solo project into a full band, which in turn has added layers to their alluring sound.
Lead track Signals emerges draped in mystique, blending an intricate guitar loop with whispered intimacy and a dash of dance-floor ambience. Displaying the band’s careful hybrid of intimate song-craft and chugging grooves, Signals weaves a beguiling spell. B side Moon Juice ascribes to their deeply melodic and psychedelic aesthetic with guitar licks and fleshy bass-lines building into a deep and charming press-repeat lullaby.
Another brilliantly scored journey, the band claimed the new release was inspired by their musical path so far. “U.S. and European tours with Bob Moses as well as collaborative work with Francis Harris has inspired and informed the direction our sound has taken. Signals and Moon Juice were written in several unique spaces including a bedroom, a church, and our studio. The resultant tracks are an amalgamation of it all.”
Having already toured the U.S. with Bob Moses and performed at Further Future Festival in Las Vegas, this summer sees the band continue to wow crowds across the UK and EU with shows at Lovebox, Dimensions, Farm Festival and more. Currently busy in the studio working towards their debut album, 2016 looks set to mark Desert Sound Colony as one of London’s most intriguing new acts.
