HONNE – Gone Are The Days (SOHN Remix)

London-based duo HONNE have unveiled a SOHN remix of new single ‘Gone Are The Days’ (via Tatemae Recordings/Atlantic Records). ‘Gone Are The Days’ is taken from a seven-track extended EP – originally slated for a Japanese-only release – comprising alternative edits, remixes and previously unheard material. The ‘Gone Are The Days (Shimokita Import)’ EP will be available worldwide in beautiful limited edition vinyl, CD and digital download (further details to follow).

This comes off the back of HONNE’s recent single ‘Loves The Jobs You Hate’, which received support across the board at Radio 1 and saw the boys surpass 2.5 million streams on Spotify. Having sold out a launch show at Oval Space (over 1000 tickets), HONNE have also confirmed details of their biggest headline gig to date, with Electric Brixton on sale for March 3.

All stuttering beats and nocturnal electronics, new single ‘Gone Are The Days’ was designed for those who can do better; encouraging someone – say the band – “to move on and find someone who will appreciate you.” Having cemented their reputation with early, electro-R&B slow-jams like ‘Warm On A Cold Night’, the more upbeat soul of ‘Gone Are The Days’ suggests a band poised to be one of 2016’s most exciting debut acts.

Having met on the first day of University, singer Andy and producer James have built an almost hermetically-sealed musical world of HONNE ever since. The pair bonded over their shared upbringing in South-West England, and then the more evocative, US West Coast grooves of their record collection. A mutual fascination with Japan bled into their escapist songwriting and imagery, which is in part collected in the forthcoming ‘Gone Are The Days (Shimokita Import)’ EP. Lyrically the songs here cover homesickness, late-night romance, long distance and the limitations of modern city life (versus the transatlantic sounds and cultures you aspire to). Naming the project after the Japanese word for ‘true feelings’, HONNE are already making waves worldwide – see sold out shows spanning Paris, the UK, Berlin and the US – as one of British music’s leading (night) lights.
